Toyota Highlander also known as the Toyota Kluger, is a crossover SUV assembled by Toyota under the Toyota brand name in its Kyūshū, Japan assembly plant and its Ikeda, Osaka, Japan assembly plant during 2008 and present. It is a seven-passenger mid-size sport utility vehicle, engineered with Toyota’s legendary quality and designed to stand out. A smooth performer, the Highlander also provides a spacious, flexible interior and progressive safety technologies

The 2009 Toyota Highlander added a new 2.7L I4 engine. It generates 187 hp (139 kW) @ 5,800 rpm and 186 ft·lbf (252 N·m). of peak torque @ 4,100 rpm on regular 87 octane fuel. The four-cylinder delivers an EPA estimated fuel economy of of 20 MPG city and 27 MPG highway. In addition, it is EPA-rated as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEVII).

The Highlander is offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, each with three trim levels: Base, Sport and Limited. All models are powered by a 270-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine, coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission with sequential manual shift mode. Every Highlander is outfitted with alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control and a flat-fold third row seat. Sport trims add larger 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and front fog lights, while Limited trims get the luxury of leather upholstery and automatic climate control, along with a six-disc CD changer.

Additionally, all but Base trims are equipped with a rearview camera monitor, as well as a flip-up rear glass window in the liftgate for quick access to the cargo area. Standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, electronic vehicle stability and traction control systems, active anti-whiplash front head restraints, front side-impact airbags and overhead curtain airbags for all three rows.
